Vaishnava Akharas

The three Vaishnava "Ani" akharas devoted to Lord Vishnu and Ramchandra

About Vaishnava Akharas

The Vaishnava akharas, known as "Ani" akharas, emerged in the 12th century CE and are devoted to Lord Vishnu and his avatars. Unlike Shaiva akharas, they typically do not have Naga Sadhus.

Note: "Ani" means "column" or "section" — these akharas form the Vaishnava column in Kumbh Mela processions.
